Water baptism is a sign by which a person confesses their belief in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, repentance from sins, and obedience to the command of Christ. The act is not necessary for salvation or a prerequisite to receiving the Holy Spirit. Faith in Jesus Christ results in salvation and the gift of the Holy Spirit. Water Baptism is a public demonstration of a believer’s faith in Jesus, his/her commitment to follow Christ, and his/her inclusion in the church.

also raised up with Him
